02
Before you start
Gather Your Documents

Assessment & Verification

Our assessors review all documents, verify policy status, confirm premiums were up to date, and validate that the event is covered. Initial assessment takes around 3 hours, with senior review and compliance check completing within 12 hours. Claims submitted within the first 6 months of a member's cover date are automatically flagged for enhanced review — repatriation services proceed immediately, but cash benefit is held pending clearance.

Decision & Payout

You will be notified of the outcome by email. Approved claims are paid directly to the banking account provided within 48 hours in your policy currency. Transfers to cross-border beneficiaries may be subject to applicable banking fees.

Important Policy Rules
07
6-Month Rule
Waiting Period & Suspicious Claims

All new policies and newly added members are subject to a 6-month waiting period from their cover start date. Claims arising within this period are automatically treated as suspicious and held for investigation before cash benefit is released. Repatriation services are arranged immediately regardless of claim status. Accidental death is exempt — full benefits are paid without delay upon confirmation of accidental cause of death. Claims where investigation confirms undisclosed pre-existing conditions will be declined.

08
3-Year Protection
Contestability & Your Rights

After 36 months of continuous active cover per member, Mutual Life Africa waives the right to contest any claim on the basis of non-disclosure or misrepresentation. All valid claims after this period are processed and paid without investigation. This protection applies per member from their individual cover start date.
